Every occasion is different and the role of a Master of Ceremonies is much more involved than just making a few announcements at a function or event. Some of the Toastmaster duties that Garry is happy to provide are listed below.
For the ceremony..........
a) Arriving in plenty of time to liaise with the priest or venue to make sure that everything is as you have planned.
b) Meeting the groom and his groomsmen on their arrival and assisting with their preparations, particularly to assist the ushers with seating guests for the ceremony.
c) Greeting guests as they arrive for the day.
d) Welcoming the bride and her Bridal party as they arrive.
e) Liaising with either the priest or venue staff to ensure that guests are all seated ready for the ceremony without seeing the bride before her grand entrance.
f) Helping the registrar at civil ceremonies with any announcements that may be required.
g) Working closely with the photographer and videographer throughout the day, ensuring that guests are in the right place at the right time for photographs.
h) Generally helping everyone at the wedding to make their day more enjoyable.
During the Wedding Reception…….
a) Acting as personal assistant for the bride and groom, whether it is as a gopher, sheepdog, seamstress, flower arranger or project manager.
b) Keeping guests informed of the schedule, especially for photographs.
c) Helping any guess that may have special requirements.
d) Working with the venue to ensure that the bride and groom have drinks and canapés at the appropriate times.
e) Informing guests of your specific arrangements regarding cards and gifts.
f) Announcing the Wedding Breakfast and organising a ‘formal’ receiving line, if you choose to have one.
g) Announce the Grand Entrance of the bride and groom into the Wedding Breakfast.
h) Saying Grace, if required.
i) Circulating the guest book to all the guests during the day.
j) Offering advice to those who will be making wedding speeches and toasts, to announce the speeches and toasts at the appropriate time.
k)To conduct the cake cutting ceremony, either during the wedding breakfast or the evening party.
l) Ensure that any gifts or flowers are available at the right time during speeches.
m) Liaise with the photographer and videographer regarding timings so that the special moments are not missed.
